League of United Latin American Citizens

Overview

The League of United Latin American Citizens was created in 1929, a time in our country’s history when Hispanics were denied basic civil and human rights despite their vast contributions to American society. LULAC is the oldest and most widely respected Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States of America.

Today, with 115,000 volunteer members and over 1,000 councils nationwide, LULAC’s mission is, “to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.”

The goal of UAMS LULAC is to create an avenue for Hispanic/Latino students from all colleges within UAMS to network, to serve the Hispanic community, and to provide both financial and social assistance for its student members. UAMS LULAC has over 80 student members representing the colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Professions.

Hello everyone, I am honored to be the League of United Latin American Citizens current UAMS chapter president for 2022-2023. We are a national organization that advocates for the health and human rights of the Hispanic/Latinx community and promotes the professionalism of its members. We are so excited to see a new generation of motivated and diverse health students enter the field and we want to be a resource for students to meet others that share in these values of leadership and integrity. Please reach out for more information on getting involved and giving back to the community. LULAC looks forward to meeting you!
