About the Program

The Anesthesia Tech Pipeline Program is an educational and work experience designed to foster mentorship and a structured path into medical school for students. The anesthesia tech pipeline program is a partnership between the UAMS Department of Anesthesiology, the UAMS College of Medicine, and universities across the state. Our mission is to support the College of Medicine in recruiting and retaining highly qualified students with strong connections to their home communities in Arkansas.

Working as an anesthesia tech is an outstanding way to get an inside look at the healthcare system, to meet professionals, and connect with mentors. Anesthesia Techs work clinically 20-25 hours per week as members of the anesthesia care team. They complete on-the-job training and become proficient in preparing and maintaining equipment for all types of anesthetics. They work everywhere that anesthetics are delivered, including the operating rooms, the labor & delivery unit, the gastroenterology suite, and the radiology areas.
