UAMS Pathways Program Information
Junior STEM Academy
- Focuses on STEM-H while using a combination of effective teaching pedagogies
- Utilizes culturally responsive and holistic curriculum
- Integrates concepts relating to mental health/wellness such as cyberbullying or emotional intelligence
Senior STEM Academy
- Focuses on STEM-H while using a combination of effective teaching pedagogies
- Provides 6th to 8th grade scholars a deeper awareness of STEM-H careers
- Argumentative inquiry labs
- Community-based participatory research and project-based learning
RAMP-UP Academy
- Facilitates a successful academic pathway for scholars who have strong interests in health care professions
- Ensures a smooth transition from secondary education to collegiate and career readiness
- Provides scholars the opportunity for growth and development in Medical Professions/STEM careers by utilizing hands-on experiences
- Engages in research practices
- Community science and engineering activities
- ACT preparation
Student Athlete STEM Academy
- Facilitates collaborative efforts of medical professions and athletic scholars
- Allows scholars with a strong interest in health care professions and athletics to pursue both interests
- Provides athletic scholars the opportunity to grow and develop while pursuing Medical Profession/STEM careers

- Enhance educational opportunities for underrepresented and low-income students.
- Close the education achievement gap for program participants.
- Improve critical thinking skills and creativity.
- Intensify exposure to cutting-edge, biomedical, public health research, translational research.
- Provide preparation for successful application to and matriculation in schools emphasizing careers in the health professions.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to guide students in their career path and life journey.
